A Video Introduction to Honeywell’s New Remote MasterMind 3.0

As mobile computing becomes more present in our personal lives and thanks to the increasing proliferation of smartphones and tablets, the integration of these devices into our work environments becomes more and more desirable.

That is why I was excited by the announcement in early 2012 of Honeywell’s Remote MasterMind 3.0 (ReM 3.0), which version expands that platform’s integrated management capabilities beyond the management of barcode scanners to include mobile computers, Google Android devices and Apple iOS devices as well.

ReM 3.0 centralizes remote management of asset tracking, software distribution, systems configuration, diagnostics and collection of performance data via a simple, straightforward console. While researching the capabilities of ReM 3.0, I discovered this excellent YouTube video tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCc287oPce4 .

The 6-minute video provides a full tour of the console and highlights its intuitive tabular layout. The video highlights ReM 3.0’s dashboard feature which provides an at-a-glance overview of such critical information as how many devices are currently connected to the network, battery-status totals, storage-status totals and out-of-contact devices.

Also demonstrated are the system’s security-management and reporting features. Security can be managed at levels ranging from individual users to entire user groups, and reports can be generated for specific devices all the way to all devices. Most exciting from my perspective was the demonstration of ReM 3.0’s ability to remote control any device with a live internet connection.

IT administrators, who are looking to simplify distribution of software and management of configuration settings of Android and iOS devices, as well as of their scanners and mobile computers, will be well served by investing 6 minutes in this video tutorial.
